Determining year for Evinrude 85hp V4

Can anyone help me determine what year my old Evinrude is. I think it is a 1975 or 1976.<br /><br />Serial # is J0004077<br />Model # is 85693D<br /><br />Thanks

It's a '76.<br />Plugs are Champion L77JC4 or QL77JC4 gapped at .030"<br />Fuel/Oil mix is 50:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 outboard oil.<br /><br />Welcome to Iboats!

Great engine but thirsty. I have the Johnson version. It has never left me stranded , even when the power pack went haywire it ran enough to get me home.

Thanksfor the info:<br /><br />Yes -- I have owned it for 15 years and it has always started well and run like a top -- I am going to put a jet pump on it and mount it on a big jon boat -- should go like a bat out of hell!
