DF60 Won't tilt/trim down... only up?

I'm working on a friend's boat which has a 2002 Suzuki DF60 on it. The motor will tilt/trim up but when pressing the down button all we get is a relay click but no movement. We swapped the green and blue wires on the up and down relays, doing so makes the motor move down when hitting the up button, and no movement when hitting the down button...so the tilt/trim motor appears to be fine but there is an issue either with the down relay or a connection problem. Using a test light, we get output at both relays when pressing the appropriate button, so I'm wondering if we lost ground somewhere.

If someone could share some light on this, we would certainly appreciate it.

Its probable the relay if everything looks fine. Can you switch them around to check easily?

Yeah, like it says in the original post...we swapped the wiring between the 2 relays and the motor moved down. This tells us the tilt/trim motor is fine, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the down relay is bad. I'm not sure exactly how these relays work, but it's my limited understanding that they ground through the opposing relay. So, the up relay grounds through the down relay and the down relay grounds through the up relay. Again, Using a test light, we get output at both relays when pressing the appropriate up or down buttons. This thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=210242leads me to believe that we lost the ground circuit on the up relay causing the down relay to not function properly.

Should have separate grounds accoring to the manual. You can test the relays by measuring resistance between light blue/black on UP and pink/black on Down. Should be 3-4.5ohms.

I'll try to scan the page from the manual for you when I get home later today.

If you could scan and send a few pages from the manual, that would be great.

I thought the light blue and pink wires come from the switch and are used to trigger the relays? I don't have the boat here in front of me, but I think the relay output wires are green and blue.
