I am tracking down a no spark issue and believe it is either the coil, ignition module or high voltage lead. As part of my testing I replaced the coil. When removing my old coil where the high voltage boot goes on, the screw came out that was in the middle of the coil terminal. Thinking that the screw needed to come out of the new coil to secure the lead down, I removed the center screw from the new coil. I then realized that the reason the screw came out of the old coil was due to the high voltage lead being corroded to the old coil terminal. So I put the screw back into the new coil.
By removing the center screw, did I break the new coil?
Is there a way to bench test the coil outside the boat?
Thanks
