Was at the the end of the day and decided to go fast, 40mph. I didn't account for the 500 extra pounds of people I had in the boat. When I did a turn the boat turned very sharply instead of sliding across the water. A friend holding on to the windshield fell on me and managed to remove my clavicle from it's proper placement. Luckily no one else was injured other than my clavicle and my pride.

Everyone does something stupid. When I got my first roller trailer, i was so used to launching with trailers that had bunks, that i automatically took all the straps off. The next thing i know my boat is rolling off the trailer and onto the ramp.... and slid into the water. Didn't do much damage because luckily the outdrive was up.... but a bunch of people at the marina saw. It was embarassing to say the least.

I have a boat with a flat bottom that, when empty, slides but then grabs and throws you.

A deep V, if trimmed too low in the bow (or weighted in the bow) can do the same thing.

No we were all solber.

There you go, you shouldn't be that way.:D

On a serious note, anybody with a reasonably go fast boat needs to fully understand how their boat handles under various conditions BEFORE they start hauling passengers. We've all experienced an unexpected bat turn, though, and it can sure hurt.

My grandkids have learned that they can sit on grandpa's lap and "steer" at half throttle in open smooth water. If we're cutting chop at speed, or docking, they plant their pucker in the seat and stay out of the way.

While I don't disagree, it's hard to simulate how a boat handles with 500+ lbs of ballast in the boat without using passengers. Unless you just have a bunch of sandbags handy. OP was probably trimmed down a little too much causing the bow to dig in.
