Did the 89 Evinrudes have designated thermo ports?

I have an 89 150 upper and want to install a temp gauge. Do they have a threaded plug somewhere intended for this purpose. Or would I be better off with a stud mount type on the block?

I would just use a gauge with the type of sender that goes under a headbolt, as most temp gauges for outboards do.
