I have a 1998 90 hp force that dies when it gets higher than 2000 rpms in gear. It cranks fine idles fine and revs fine in nuetral. The carbs have been rebuilt and the compression checks out fine (top cylinder 150 middle cylinder 145 and bottom cylinder 155). I have replaced all of the fuel lines added an additional fuel filter just in case it was picking up trash. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Pat, Welcome! Without knowing many details, from what you describe I'd suspect the fuel pump diaphragm and check the primer bulb on the fuel line from your tank. Start easy. Sounds like she may be starving for fuel at higher RPM's. Just a thought. BTW, you don't really want to be "revving" the engine in neutral. Good luck...

I would also check the high speed jet in the carby for a blockage. As I understand it the slow speed jet supplies most of the fuel up to about 2000 rpm & the main jet kicks in from there. It could also be the spark breaking down at higher revs.

Thanks for the suggestions I have been fighting this problem for the last month at the lake every weekend. What would cause the spark to break down and how can this be tested. I sure do appreciate the help I'm at wits end.
