I suppose this question would be mostly directed to our east Asian area iboaters though anybody can chime in.Do you guys see diesel outboards on a regular basis?Ive been on Chinese website and seen what appears to be legit outboards. Are they used commonly?Good ?Bad?Just curious.

Most countries have diesel OBs, just not popular here in the US. Although i would shy away from anything made in china as the quality and support is not there

You would think direct injected diesel outboards which in sure could be made would be perfect for pontoon apps etc.Ive no personal desire to own one just curious to see if they were used a lot outside of our little bubble called north America.

I would think biggest drawback is that diesel engines are typically quite a bit heavier than a "regular" engine.

Are there any turbocharged outboards?

not turbocharged, however supercharged. the Verado line of outboards are supercharged.

diesel outboards tend to be a bit noisy and the emissions not up to the task. however they are workhorses.

CARB (CA Air Research Board) and the EPA are committed to getting rid of diesel engines in this country. It's debatable which one of those two entities is more powerful.

VW didn't help the cause for diesel power.
