Differences between VROs

Were there any functional differences between VRO pumps back around 1992? I recently got my hands on a spare unit for my Johnson 115, but the OMC instructions say the kit was made for Loop Charged motors. As far as I can tell by looking at the pictures of the different Kits that OMC made around this time, the only difference was the routing of the hoses and the different pulse limiters.

Aside from the hardware issue, the PUMP that would work on a 120 Looper should be adequate to use on my 115 x-flow, shouldn't it?

The older units had fittings that couldn't be moved or replaced. For example, the outlet nipple would face different directions on different motors. Therefore there were different pumps for different motors. The newer OMS pumps have replaceable nipples. Basically the pumps do the same thing -- mix oil for the gas flowing thru them. The older VRO pumps mixed at a variable rate, the OMS pumps add a relative steady rate.

Yes, the older VRO pump from a looper will work on a crossflow as long as the nipples are in the right poistion. If they're not and you try to add longer hoses, be careful not to kink them or make them too long.

That's good info, I just got a great deal on a new, old stock VRO cause the seller said it would not work with the crossflow engine. The only people wanting it had crossflow engines.

The newer, 4 wire pumps had better electronics for the alarms than the older 3 wire pumps also.

My NOS pump has the 4-wire conversion kit with it....I'm very happy to know that it should work with my motor.
