When converting a Johnson 20hp to a 35hp I understand the biggest two components are the intake manifold and carb off a 30/35 model. Since a 35hp carb seems to be next to impossible to find is there other carbs that would work? Maybe the same throat size but just need different jets?

I believe the throat diameter is different. Try Tim's outboards in Hackensack mn. They have a lot of parts for the older motors.

Thanks for the info on Tim's.

Ya the throat size is bigger on the 30/35 models. I have a 1990 20 HP that I wouldn't mind putting a 35hp carb on but I cant seem to locate one. Wouldn't even mind getting a carb with the same throat size that just needed some jets changed but I'm not sure if there is other models out there that would work.

The 30hp carb is essentially the same, as the 35 became the 30 after the 1985 changeover to propshaft rated horsepower.

Hey I forgot I have a set of the carbs your looking for....... sitting on the bottom of bad juju lake (lake George ) in anoka mn lol! Your welcome to them if you can find the engine. It was running great when it went for a swim. Even has a new battery attached.

Anyone have a range of year of what 35hp carbs will work? I see that the 84 35carb is all different part numbers but it could just be busy it has a idle adjustment needle so it might work.
