Difficulty of replacing trigger

I'm wondering the difficulty of replacing the trigger on a 1979 Mercury 80hp

ITS DEFINATELY A CHORE, GETTING THE DISTRIBUTOR APART, AND IF BY CHANCE ITS INTEGRATED, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE HOUSING

im no expert and i dont know your exact model but i just did the one on my 1986 mercury 75hp and it wasnt bad. you have to buy the mercury fywheel puller tool. i tried a regular uller at first and didnt budge for hours. got the merc tool and it popped right off. then its easy. make sure the wires go back in the same spots

I didnt think it was too hard. I used this vid as a reference. The only difference which made it easier was a impact drill and deep socket to get the nut off below the bearing. Just be careful of the metal tab on the bottom of the trigger. It will break off if you are accidentally holding that in the vise to get the nut off.
