Just got a digital camera. Have a DVD/CD burner.

Want to burn digital pics onto a cd or dvd for use in a DVD player.

Have a DVD player purchased in 1999 and one purchased in 2004.

Don't have the manual any more.

When I burn pics on CD or DVD, get disc read errors. Discs read fine on the 'puter.

What do I need to do to get pics viewable on a cd or dvd on a dvd player.

Tx.

Joe

Joe,
Most CD Burning software can create something called a VideoCD - this is 'generally' more compatible with the older DVD players. Additionally, a lot of these applications can add subtitles, do transistion effects, and add music and/or narriation.
On the other hand, a lot of the newer DVD players can read a disk full of JPG's, where you really just burn the pics on to your CD, and the DVD player reads them.
A disc read error can also be caused by incompatable format (maybe you're using a RW disc), or I've sometimes seen this if you burn too fast - even though I've got a 48X burner, and 48X discs, I usually burn around 24X - the extra time is minimal, and I get much fewer coasters that way.
Finally, try an internet search on your DVD players (make/model). You'd be surprised at the number of companies who post the manuals on-line - even for older models.

Steam
Most newer DVD players will play +R format. Simply burn your JPGs to a +R DVD and your away. If you want to do it right, look up "ProShow Gold" and download their free trial. Pictures will never be the same in your household after you tried them. "Memories on TV" is also good...
