I currently have a Kodak DC210 Digital camera that is about 4 years old. The camera doesn't say how many pixels, just says Mega Pixels, and does a fair job. I am wanting to upgrade to a better camera and am currently looking at a 5 mega pixel Kodak CX7525 model that comes with rechargeable batteries. Am also considering upgrading to a 4800 X 1200 photo printer to enhance the printed photos. The printer is one of those that you just insert the memory card into and print.<br /><br /> I am looking for some input on the combination.

Re: Digital Cameras

Set your price and shop from that.<br />The new Kodak cameras are nice. The DX6490 has be talked about here before. Depends on features you are looking for.<br />The Li-ion rechargable battery lasts for 300-500 pictures.<br />Comes with a charger. 4 megapixel. Has features and operates more like an slr than a digital.<br /><br /><br />2Megapixels are more than enough for everyday shots.<br />Key features to look for are recycle time between shots, optical zoom, lag time between when you puch the button and when the picture is taken.

Re: Digital Cameras

I appreciate the link and the info. Wife wanted a better camera and printer for some photos of the two kids, 9 year old boy and 8 mo old girl. I thought the setup we have was OK, but as has been posted on many subjects, "we have to keep the wife happy, or no one in the house is happy."

Re: Digital Cameras

Right now there are a lot of good deals on Digital cameras I would look for a good deal on a 3 or 4 megapixel you may want a 8x10 or bigger picture of the kiddies.<br /><br />Not a big fan of the media card readers on the printers, pictures should be imported to the computer and then printed after editing "red eye/cropping" it's easier to view and pick out good pictures on a PC plus you will always have a backup of your pictures.<br /><br />although kodak has a good bang for the buck I would sudjest Canon, Nikon, or Olympus.<br /><br />Stay away from HP printers their Ink replacement is by far the most expensive, I Like Canon or Epson, a very good photo quality printer is $100 to $200.<br /><br />Good Luck

Re: Digital Cameras

I have the Kodak CX6200 Digital camera and am happy with it. It is fairly easy to use and manipulate pictures via computer software for editing and printing.<br /><br />Also, I can use the same MMC card in the camera that my Lowrance plotter uses and vice versa.<br /><br />Kevin

Re: Digital Cameras

Thanks, I guess it is still shopping time and need to look at some more cameras. The new printers have a slot on them that you can load the pictures from. Will have to see how that works too.

Re: Digital Cameras

I just got the Kodak CX7430 (4 megapixles). It is the first digital camera I've ever had. It is very easy to use and you can use regular AA batteries (won't last long)or the special digital camera batteries (I use them and they last long and are cheap)) , or a battery pack. The camera is exactly what I wanted. It has fast shutter speed, night shots, close ups, burst mode and a bunch of other modes (I mainly use the auto or general mode). All these modes are on a circular twisty button (half a brain can figure it out). It was only $200. Good luck with your search. It also has 3x optical zoom (4xdigital which is sorta worthless)

Re: Digital Cameras

i bought an olympus about a year ago, it works really well. also check the zoom feature, digital zoom doesn't do much. you want large optical zoom.<br /><br />but the one feature that means the most i suggest is size, if mine were a bit smaller i would take it more places regardless of the features it has.

Re: Digital Cameras

I have found a lot of great info and reviews of cameras at the following 2 sites:<br /><br /> Digital Photography Review <br /> Steve's Digi Cams <br /><br />If your in the market for a good printer to print photos there are some great deals on the Canon i960 out there. The i960 is being replaced by a new printer, but it gets better marks in most areas than the new ones (I have a i950).

Re: Digital Cameras

I just bought a 2 megapixal camera and a 3 megapixal camera. BIG DIFFERENCE!<br />Go for at least a 3 megapixal. <br />I ended up taking the 2 megapixal back because of the quality.

Re: Digital Cameras

I have a 3 megapixel Olympus D560. Great pictures except for flash. It seems like the shutter slows so much that I can't hold it steady - unless it is a close-up. There are simpler cameras to use (my view). I have the Canon I960 printer which I bought based on Consumer Reports rating. It is fast, economocal to use and prints excellent pictures. I have been able to blow pictures taken with this camera up to 22" x 30". Ofoto does an outstanding job on larger print jobs.

Re: Digital Cameras

Battery life! I purchased a Nikon 4300 (3.9 mp) last year and I have found it to have the best battery life for my use. The deals on digital are very good right now. Compared to my friends olympus (which also takes great shots) my batteries seem to last MUCH longer and is rechargable.<br /><br />Bob

Re: Digital Cameras

I really appreciate the responses and recommendations. I have the camera and am Happy with it so far. It is a Kodak CX7525, and is not listed on any of the links mentioned above. It is a 5 MP with 256 MP SD memory card & 16 MB internal memory. I can select the following functions for taking pictures, auto. portrait, sport, night, landscape, close-up or video with sound. Learning all of the ins and outs will be interesting.<br /><br />My old Kodak was a DC210 model and did a pretty good job for a low MP camera.

I suspect that you made a wise choice - now get a Canon printer!
