Okay, here's the question.

Ten hours of operation after you have changed the oil in which direction did the oil go on the dipstick?

Does the oil level remain constant?

Does the oil level drop? In other words does your outboard tend to use a little oil?

Does the oil level rise? In other words does fuel blow past the rings and increase the volume of the oil in the crankcase?

I have three Hondas that are all relatively new and they always seem to be full to overfull. On occasion I have drained a few ounces of oil to prevent an overfull situation.

If Hondas tend to "make oil" then it might be a good idea to put the level a short distance below the full mark, to prevent the oil from getting too full.

Re: Dipstick

All fourstroke outboards have a tendency to make a little oil because they run much colder than thier automotive cousins.Thats why regular maintenance is more critical.
