The Kids crashed my last Puter big time years ago going into all the porn sites. thy were simi-grown kids, meaning they were grown and mooching off mom and dad. ( boy am I glad thats over)
I know kids yours age have to have puters for school work and such, and usuaally instant messaging for thier friends. So talking the puter is not an option.
looks like your on the right trail, cant help you unless you can track down the sites through the cookies.
What I would do is move thier puters in the family room where they wouldnt be stowed away in thier room, unsupervised.

Take a look at a program called "Net Nanny". It comes with a list of known sites that children (of any age) should not be visiting. You can add sites to their existing list (easily done). It also comes with a list of words that are flags when they try to do a search on the internet which will block any sites that may be related to those words, especially sexually explicit words.

Sometimes it is over restrictive and blocks their search for legitimate homework topics and can cause some frustration. But when you download the program you will input a password that lets you bypass the blocks. So they may have to call you to unblock a net site they need for homework (just don't let them see the password you input).

My kids are 15 and 13 and I downloaded the program to keep them from accidently logging on to net sites with sexual or violent content.

It came with a free trial period then I bought it. Works for me.

If you find a list of all of the evil, obnoxious websites that kids shouldn't be visiting post it here so the rest of us can check them out for ourselves.

Check into getting a "keystroke logger".
It is a program that records every keystroke they type, instant messages, chat, websites, email, passwords and all.
You can then read the trail.

Something like this:
http://www.awarenesstech.com/general/index-12g4.html

Lots of companies are offering this software, some is even shareware.

More info:

http://www.pestpatrol.com/Support/About/About_KeyLoggers.asp

Google "keystroke logger" for more.

Can go into IE to do it.. Tools, INternet Options, Content, and turn on the advisor, pick a password, set a level, and that's it.... when a page has prohibited content (or no rating at all), it will prompt for password before showing it.

I'll bet there is a huge protest when their access is stopped, they'll probably go to a friends house to continue "smutting" if they are already into it.

Re: Dirty Words,..???....

your best bet to keep them from clearing their tracks is to set up their individual user accounts and DONT give them any priveledges except the basics. one folder for their stuff and basic program priveledges. change their passwords and lock them down so they cant change them. at least then you'll get everything that goes on locally.

a good firewall will track their IP's they hit and allow you to block the ones you find.

unfortunatly most the crap they will get into is gonna be online and not store the content locally, so a keystroke logger is a must if you want to monitor "my space" and those other teen hell holes.

but if you dont lock down their accounts, they can hide their tracks and undo what your trying to accomplish.
