Hi all,
I am trying to decide what to do about too much oil consumption on
my ninety nine 250 hp johnsom outboard. I am burning like three gallosn of oil to each fifty gallons of fuel. I live in mexico and I dont have a mechanic with the program to test the vro pump via computer.
I am wondering how difficult it iis to bypass the vro pump and mix the fuel myself. this seems likle the easy solution and i have no problem doing this. I am worried about other problems that might arise.
I need advice from someone in the know, and also if anyone else has went ahead and done this same thing?

Re: disconect vro pump?

You can do this easily by disconnecting the main electrical plug that goes to the fuel pump which reads oil and put a cap over the oil nipple that is bolted to the cowling and just mix your oil with your gas but maybe your pump is going bad because of the oil comsumption so might want to look at that soon.

Check for vacum leaks in fuel line, this will cause high oil consumption.
