I have a 70hp Evinrude 1996 E70TLEDA and I premix. I have an oil leak just before the pump and I just want to disconnect oil and alarms. How do I do it?
Thank you.

this gets asked at least 3 times every day .

This should be a sticky file.?
I think so.

In your case you need to find the leak if its near the pump and fix it or you'll be drawing air into the pump, use a flashlight to see it, pump the oil bulb up firm tp pressurize the oil line. Don't just dissconnect or the fuel will be lean and you'll toast it....all due to a pinhole.

Mr Jones,
I read that thread before I posted mine. I am asking about a permanent disconnect and future premix. I wish to know if that thread will apply specifically to my E70TLEDA. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Disconnect oil pump/alarm

jonesg, thanks for saving the link, it is in the TOP SECRET FILE, rather than faq, as it only pertains to J/E motors.

chubcobear, same principle, but you have to use the existing pulse line, and make a mount for the fuel pump. use fuel pumps: any of these will work.
Part Number: 0385784
Weight: 0.44 lbs
Equivalent Parts: 0395712,0398385,0433390,0438559

kenmyfam has a complete post on it.

Re: Disconnect oil pump/alarm

Tashadaddy,
Can't I just plug incoming oil line, disconnect connectors for pump and tank, and use the existing pump as fuel pump? I will then remove oil tank and premix?
Can that be done to E70TLEDA? Thanks.

Re: Disconnect oil pump/alarm

sure.

is your fuel pump side still working. if so you can easily and cheaply do this:

VRO still working.

To convert a still working VRO, disconnect the wiring harness to the VRO pump, also the harness to the oil tank.
You actually remove oil tank for more storage.

Now cut the oil line about 1 ? inchs from motor. Plug the oil line. I use a bolt and hose clamp.

Premix your fuel 50:1 TC-W3 outboard oil.

Disconnect fuel line to top carb, pump primer bulb, until you get mixed gas out of carb line. The gas will change color.

Connect carb line, go boating.

Re: Disconnect oil pump/alarm

TD and Jones,
As a followup to this, got E70TLEDA Factory Repair Manual, rebuilt leaky primer solenoid, rebuilt 3 fouled carbs and replaced top/middle manifold to carb hoses. Use VRO(2), no longer premix. Motor runs fine. Thanks again.
