disconnecting oil pump on 85hp suzuki

I have a 85 Hp Cabrea {Which was made by suzuki} I have been mixing my own oil for a while.My oil pump is still connected and it leaks oil badly. I need info on disconnecting it and the oil alarm

I understand that the Suzuki oil injection is a very good oil injection system! I think I would get a kit and rebuild the oil pump! The oil injection motors mostly run at 100:1 at Idle and progress to 50:1 at WOT! If you do any idleing youll fowl plugs at 50:1! Im using Premix in my Merc 150 (or will be) Because Mercs have a problem when they get older. I dont antisipate a problem as this engine is on a Bass Boat and it is WOT most of the time, but I would keep the Injection if I could!!<br /><br />LubeDude

I have removed the oil injection system from '88 DT115. Removed oil reservoior. Disconnected oil reservoir sensor. Capped oil intakes on carbs with plastic caps. I don't remeber if I had to disconnect an oil flow sensor or not, if you have one disconnect it. Sealed sensor wire connections. Has been running good for 3rd season.

Please think about the fact <br />that with oil injection if you clog a main carb<br />jet you will still get the lubrication to that cyl<br />if you run pre-mix and clog a main carb jet<br />you are risking severe engine damage because of<br />not getting any lubrication to that cylinder

Need re-education:<br /><br />Is the oil injection on these engines direct into the cylinder? On the mercs the oil is mixed into the oil and then goes to the carbs, Thus if you have a plugged jet you would still fry a cylinder, oil injection or not!<br /><br />LubeDude

My '85 DT115 injects the oil directly into the reed chamber in the intake. There is no mixed fuel in the carbs ever. I agree with Lubedude and Fish4970, rebuild the injection pump and measure the output against what the manual says to be sure you are gettign anought oil. I like my injection system and will do whatever it takes to keep it going. <br /><br />Knightgang
