DishNetwork question

I've been on DishNework quite some time now. The dish we have is a Dish 500 with a standard receiver. We've recently accquired an HD Sony flat screen television. I do know that I'll have to get an HD tuner for the house and pay for HD service. My question is will they have to cahnge anything out at the dish or just send a new tuner. Anyone have an answer to this one?

I tried their customer service line twice hoping to get some one that spoke decent english but couldnt understand a word either one of them said.

I'm on DirecTV.................but I'd assume its the same. When I upgraded to HD with a recorder the old dish had to be replaced with one capable of receiving the HD sig. It is slightly larger and carries a differant LMB.

I recently upgraded to Dish HD myself. They changed out the LMB on the outside dish and also the inside receiver. The new receivers are way better than the older ones. You can record two different shows at once and there is tons more memory.

You will need to have an additional dish installed on your rooftop. All of Dishnetworks HD programming comes from a satelite at 61.5 degrees. Your current dish aimed at 110 and 119 degrees can't see the bird at 61.5.

Dish will install a new dish and reviever. If you are a "long time" customer, ask for the $100.00 upgrade fee to be waved. $10.00 more a month for the HD.

Forget Dish. DirecTV outperforms it by a loooooong way.

I have DTV witht the HD upgrades. Daughter #3 has Dish, supposedly HD. No comparison, none.
