Disposing of bad gas

I have about 65 gallons of old gasoline, mixed with water (boat was sunk). Obviously, I'm going to have to pump the old stuff out of the tanks, but I have no idea what to do with it. It's got water in it, so I can't put it in my truck. And I hear it's a bad idea to pump it down a storage drain.

Anybody got any idea how to get rid of this stuff?

Ayuh,....

The Water will seperate out just by itself,...
Then the salvageable Gas will be floating on the top.....

The Water can be dumped,+ the Gas saved.....

And,....
If you still don't want to burn the Gas in whatever you'd like,...
An ad on craigslist saying "Free Gas",....
I'm sure will bring a flock of folks wanting it to your door....

I would put into drums and let it settle out. seperate the water from the gas, it will settle to the bottom. store in safe place out of sun. At $4 gal I sure wouldn't just dispose of all of it . mix it with some fresh gas and run it in the lawn mower, mix for 2 stroke oil for weed wacker or add a few gals at a time to the truck , then contact the nearest fuel distribuer about disposal. Or just contact the fire dept in your area. they use gas/fuel mixed for training fires all of the time
I have burned many gallons of messed up diesel /gas filled the wrong tank had to drain it stuff in live fire training. I would guess they would even come pick it up for ya, I know my dept would be glad to so we didn't have to buy it to burn it up

If you can let the boat sit still for a couple of days you should be able to stick the siphon hose to the bottom of the tank and drain off most(if not all) of the water first. Use a clear container, if you can find one big enough.
I think I would invest a decent amount of time to save $260+ worth of fuel.

contact the local government. they have a hazardous waste disposal area. you might even get to take the boat there and drain it.

you could get an inline watter fuel seperator for pretty cheep and use the gas in your lawn more weed eater chain saw and add a couple gallons to every fill up in your car, at the price of fuel i wouldent let it go to waste. if you live anywhere near Bismarck nd, ill come come to your door with a couple empty 55 gallon drums and take that stuff off your hands

If boat was sunk and got water in, you might not have any gas still in the tank(s). The water probaly came in via the vent lines and may have displaced all of the gas out of the tanks.

You might want to take a look at a Mister Funnel. http://www.misterfunnel.com/

I haven't used one but several of the members on the TractorByNet forum I belong to, have them, and they say they work as advertised.

I've done the "Free Gas" thing on Craigslist and you'd be amazed how many people will show up with empty gas cans to take away your nasty old gas.

Gas fumes floating around outside your house???

NO!!!!!!!!!

Bad Big!! Just giving you a hard time, but it is a bad Idea to leave any flamible liquid in an open container.

If it was me I would siphon it off and let it settle. Seperate what you can and call local fire dept for suggestion for the rest. I had a similar situation with a truck that my buddy ran into a pond(don't ask). I pulled 35 gal. of fuel/water from his truck and salvaged 29. I put a gallon at a time into my truck every fillup. Never had a problem.

Good Luck!
