Re: Distributor reasemble

You are on the right track Vish, I usually find the number one spot on the cap, mark the dist body with a marker and when I drop the dist. in I'll hold it a little to the left as the lower gear engages, it may take a couple of stabs but you will eventually get it. On a side note, the number one position on the cap is called that because the wire on the cap goes to the number one cylinder. Theoretically, you can yank all the wires off the cap and make whichever wire position on the cap number one, then install the rest of the wires according to firing order. However, its still easier and quicker to mark that joker before you take it out because now even when you get her in and lined up you are going to have to adjust the timing. Just my 2 cents from workin on dirt track cars.
Good Luck.

Re: Distributor reasemble

If the dist will not drop all the way in you will have to rotate the oil pump drive shaft untill it will drop in ,this may take a few tries,it can be turned with a medum sized flat screwdriver when the dist is out.
good luck:)
