Dixie Chicks got five Grammy nominations.

It Seems that the Chicks got five Grammy nominations, looks like they gaining in popularity while others seem to be loosing their appeal doesn’t it?

One day after completing their world tour, the Dixie Chicks secured five Grammy nominations on Wednesday morning (Dec. 6) in Los Angeles. Also making a strong showing, Carrie Underwood and "Jesus Take the Wheel" brought in a cumulative four nominations.

Not Ready to Make Nice" is nominated for record of the year and song of the year in all genres, but was excluded from the country song category. However, the track is vying for best country vocal performance by a duo or group.

Why is it that people who don't like country music anyways are always whining about the dixie chicks?

They went pop. WOW, they got 5 grammies and no CMA's... Madonna didn't get any CMA's either.

If they did they shouldn't have....
Btw, 'Duh'bya has a fresh roll of TP in the executive bathroom.....

I actually like da Chicks, most of 'em in the HOTD thread anyway . . .

No, seriously, I think The Dixie Chicks are incredibly talented . . . songwriters, musicians and singers. But why do I care what they think politically? What is it about stardom that makes their assessments worthy of anything? Negative or Positive? I would say just the opposite, everything about their lives, Madonna's, Neil Young's and John Lennon's for that matter makes them especially unqualified to be taken seriously about anything other than music. And some may question their ability to comment on that . . .

Edit: BTW, "Not Ready to Make Nice" is an absolute refusal to apologize if anybody was confused

Is it any suprise that them sticking it to Bush and having an album pretty much dedicated ot that and their victim status that resulted helped them be very successful in this vanity party?

Don't get me wrong, I think they are great and actually like the song mentioned if I don't try to understand the lyrics. They got policital and now they are whining about the outcome. The country music scene shunned them and I am glad.

Even though I think they are talented, I can't listen to them without getting ticked..

It will be interesting to see if they can fellow up this pop album with a second one or not. I agree with others, they are very talented but I find it hard to listen to their new stuff as well.

In spring 1989, the wife & I were spending a Sunday afternoon at Trinity Park in Fort Worth, we noticed a concert stage set up on the steps of the Amon Carter museum. Turned out to be some new local C&W girl band...Dixie Chicks...the were pretty good.
