That air chair is awesome!

The most pressing upgrade is the interior. I want to teach myself to reupholster it. I look a all these restores, and they look like brand new boats in the end. Right now mine just looks like an '87 in good shape. I like my colors, and I can't feel any of the metal flake. My rub rail has been removed in the past, and is now sorta 'wavy'.

I think hydroturf, restored seats, and a good polishing will take me a long way. A tower polishing wouldn't hurt either.

I drooled over a master craft on the floor in a mall this past week. It was perfect. 24', lots of room, sweet tower, ballast, 6.0 corvette v8...but it was also 100,000$. I bet I had as much fun this past week as I could on that.

Yikes :faint2:
$100K will put a lifetime's worth of gas in THIS boat :D I'd think 20K gals of gas should be PLENTY enough :watermelon:

If for that alone, yep, easily as much fun. And no worrying about making the next payment.....

The only interior upgrade I see you need to make is FISH SLIME!!!, I'm thinking a very fiesty 30 lb. Blue Cat dropped on the deck and left to do his thing for about 5 minutes and stuff would start looking a lot better!

Ha aha! I'm not much of a fisherman. I enjoy catching, but not fishing. No patience! Now if I knew more about it, so I did more catching I might fish! :D

I agree. That's the point I think people need to see to justify doing this. If I was a little rich boy, buying new would be nice. As it stands, a little less room and a few less bells and whistles is a small price to pay.

For a few dollars I can go with vortec heads, performer intake, and a 4 barrel and go from 175 to 215 ponies if I get bored with this .

Plus it is just a great experience to get to know the boat so well.

Just got back from a couple of weeks at the lake and I saw that you splashed. Congratulations! You have a really nice boat there. I hope you figure out the leak, but in the meantime, enjoy the boat and I look forward to your upgrades.

Great job!

Hey guys. Haven't really done anything else besides let the tower down and get her in the dry. I'm working on a lot of house remodeling, but I hope to be able to get started installing at least some hydroturf and doctor on my seats within a few months. I have a good woman wanting a ring on her finger too I need to contend with haha. Trying to catch up on some of the other projects going on since I last logged in.

Re: dixie hustler "deck job" (turned full rebuild)

Well, the problem is that I'm having problems getting the ex wife, who was so keen on leaving several years ago, to put any effort into getting officially divorced lol. So who knows! At any rate major boat work has kind of fallen low on the priority list. For sure she's gonna get a carb rebuild, tower wire tuck, tune up, buffing, and new seat bottoms.

I'm going to build a new base under the rear bench seat and make it taller. It is too short and right now everyone seems to sit on top of the seat back.

I also want to see about creating a panel that is between the motor compartment and the rear seat, and scribe the edges to the contours of the hull. Insulate it somehow. The motor noise coming through the mostly open motor compartment is annoying.

I even thought about just cutting a piece or two of 2" wide pink foam to fit snugly and leave it at that. I have plenty of access under there with the hatches. Even thought about insulating the back side of the hatches some.

Seems like the current Admiral might not appreciate all that time, effort & money spent on getting the OLD EX-Admiral re-worked  But if it gets her to sign the docs, then so be it...........

Read thru Bud's (CC254) SeaHawk thread. He used some off the shelf foil backed material for insulation & sound deadening. He said it worked GREAT. Might use it w/ the 2" foam or a new panel of some kind.

I'll check out the thread for some sound deadening tips! I have been thinking of using a marker to trace out on my deck a few different ideas on how to most attractively lay out the hydroturf. I want a mix of hydroturf and gelcoat showing. Thinking of about a 2" reveal around my seat bases, tank hatch, etc.

The tank hole isn't perfectly square, so I'm not sure exactly how well the tank hatch is going to turn out. I've considered not doing the reveal around the tank if the hatch doesn't turn out so great. Just completely cover it with hydroturf and but hydroturf up to the edges of the hole.

Just finished the thread....I love when I read 36 pages and get to see a splash! It's good to see it back in the water.

EDIT: Sorry....old thread I started reading and lost track of the dates.
