Glock has a fairly good selection but use at your own risk.

Most states frown on the use of that type of repellent and many have actually enacted legislation specifically forbidding it.

Yup, I do. Call your local USCG Auxilliary and request a courtesy inspection. When you pass, you will receive a windshield sticker - most marine patrols will do little more than ask to see a PFD for each passenger and bid you a nice day, when they see one.

Just obey the law. They learn quickly and will leave you alone.

I like your thinking, albeit small in scale.
Maybe a punt gun mounted on the bow?
Or a rail mounted swivel cannon?

Re: DNR Repellent

Anyone know where I can get a can of DNR repellent?

All you have to do to make DNR disappear is to stall out on the water. Be sure to wave your orange flag, and give lots of blasts of the horn in 3s.

They'll be all over you until that happens. Then, they'll magically disappear! :D

Standard procedure for me every year. The guy even comes to the house to do the inspection. "Checks" usualy involve nothing more than a freindly wave.

You really don't need that...... just keep your marijuana bales below deck and out of site....... have all the illegals wear PFD's....... and start waving hello using ALL your fingers on you hand instaed of just one!

Funny you mention that. I used to run my hydroplane on the Bodkin and put in at the same place as DNR. Whenever we launched at the same time, which was often, he would were I was going to run my boat. I would tell him. He headed in the other direction everytime.
This summer I learned that a friend of mine busted up a hydro at 90mph where I used to run mine. DNR was nowhere around. I figure they don't want to deal with the mess.

That's the best advice.

They have a job to do just like you all do.

As the son of one, I can attest to some pretty stupid tricks played by some people, toward my father. Including pointing a gun at him with me present, at 9 years old. That got very scary.

I don't take the Glock comment lightly, especially after staring down the business end of a firearm pointed at me in hate.

Dad rarely ticketed anyone if they were repentant or simply made a mistake. They got a warning and some advice. And, yes he rescued many a stranded boater/hunter/fisherman.

Yep! I get to show my license once in about 3-5 yrs. I think if I buy a lifetime license they may not ever visit my boat again. :D

When I had my old Riviera boat with the old white Chrysler, they seemed to check me as soon as I hit the water. Ever since I got a nicer boat, they seem to leave me alone. Also I keep a bright orange PFD in plain sight now, and I think that convinces them I'm a safe captain

Re: DNR Repellent

All the lakes I fish are in the same DNR district, so it's always the same CO I see. I showed him my fishing license four years ago. I told him I was 100% catch and release. Not much required equipment on a 12' aluminum boat, and I have all the equipment on board for a much larger boat.

Now, when I see him, he just waves on his way by. The other lake cops never seem that interested in a pokey little tinny moving along at 10 mph or so. Especially with some white-haired old geezer working the tiller.

Lots of good input here and I'll add one more .... don't buy that brand new "semi-submersible" down at the Cartagena, Columbia yacht brokerage! :D
