Finally good weather here. just got done glassing plywood. my question is do I need to sand out fiberglass/resin before I put outdoor carpet adhesive down and then carpet or is it not necessary. I am using Roberts outdoor adhesive R6040. Thanks

I would scuff up the surface a bit(if it isnt already rough) to ensure good adhesion.

I would've assumed more like 40 grit, but I don't have anything to base that on other than seems reasonable for adhesion alone. Why 120?

I like the 120 for sanding resin because it doesn't clog as easy as a finer grit and just dulls the finish for a good grip. I'm of the understanding that you just want to take the "shine" off of smooth surfaces for bonding adhesives and you don't want to get down into the glass fibers.

For removing old glass back to good glass a 40 grit would be better, but for new glass I'd use the 120.
