I'm worried that I'm missing something for my exhaust system. Where the lower unit attaches to the midsection, there is no gasket or seal. So, I'm thinking that some exhaust gas goes out the propeller, but some goes out the gap between the lower unit and midsection. Is this per design? Can I put gasket maker on the lower unit and try to seal that area? Should there be a tube that goes through the figure 8 shaped hole in the bottom on the midsection?
Also, I bought part 6H3-45123-00-00, muffler gasket, but it seems like it is too big to fit on the bottom of the midsection (same shape, but too big). If I put it on, there is nothing that attaches to it or nothing that goes through it??? It would just go on the casing and that is it. Why do I even need it?
