I kind of like those auto dealer tag frames,If I see alot of one dealer then I will go to that dealer to see why so many people buy from them.

Tag Frames? <br />ANY license plate frame that obscures ANY part of the plate, is illegal in Wisconsin. Lots of people buy them and use them, till they get their first ticket.

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

I sure hear this. I am the first one to take off the deaker sticker. My last vehicle had the license plate frame which was removed as soon as I pulled in the driveway. <br /><br />Back in the days they drilled 2 holes in the trunk, my Dad would come in with a sheet that was a deal that the dealer could make with him. It was pricing for the advertising they wanted to put on his car. If they did not want it, then they could not put a dealer ad on the car. He walked a on few that put the ad on. Obviously no dealers ever agreed.<br /><br />The tatoo is in reference to a couple guys that tattooed the call sign of their radio station on their forehead. The stattion allegedly said they would pay them $30K a year for 5 years to do it, then would not pay. The case was just dismissed in court because the guys did make their court date.

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

Usually I don't advertise anything because they rarely make those shirts and such in my size. If I buy a product that has an obtrusive company name or logo on it I usually try to figure out how to remove or hide it unless I am impressed enough with the product and would like to make sure others who need something like it know what is good.

Some of the people that advertise logos on things wether it be clothes, boats, cars, etc, has alot to do with being a status symbol. They are saying, I have a Boston Whaler boat, or I wear Tommy Hilfiger clothes, they need the re-assurance as that symbol makes them feel that they are somebody.<br /><br />Just my opinion though, I could be wrong.

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

I do a fair amount of advertising. Especially the<br />license plate frame thing. I sell for Ford and <br />thats how I make my living and feed my family.<br />Most license plate holders I put on surprisingly<br />end up staying on the new vehicle, my guess would<br />be 9 out of 10 people will leave them on. <br />Especially if they like the way they were treated<br />and felt good about their purchase.

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

Let's see if I got this right. I scrape the check mark off my tennis shoes, tear the aligator off my shirts, scrape the name off my rods, grind the logo off my golf-clubs, overspray the YAMAHA on my outboard...<br /><br />Sorry folks, but to sanitize everything I have would seriously cut into my fishing time. <br /><br />I can live in a flawed world. ;)

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

Why do you buy the brands you buy? think about it. Is a $50 dollar name brand shirt really better then the $10 dept. store shirt? I will pay more for something because it is made in the USA or Canada for that matter. But when quality becomes an issue and it starts costing me because of it then I will go elsewhere.

Re: Do you advertise for FREE ?

This whole thread is based on the premise that whoever is wearing the company name is considered an asset to the company name. This is not always the case, consider: A 350lb 5'2" woman who could use a shower wearing a doritos or a cocacola T-shirt. Not a pretty image is it, how many people are gonna think "Oh man, I wanna be just like her". Or Guess jeans in size 42 Etc.<br /><br />Kinda makes ya wonder why every "free" shirt I have is either a XL XXL, especiallly the ones for suntan lotion, drinks etc. Yes I own several Freebie T-shirts but, Am I an asset to the company when I wear it... I would like to think so but maybe not.<br /><br /> Are you the image the company wanted to project when they gave you that free shirt?

I advertise for free. Budweiser, Ford, Polaris, Remington, the Red Sox, Patriots, NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt jr, PSE archery equipment are just some of the shirts and hats I wear frequently. I like the products, no biggie to me. They are all American companies, american jobs. If I am a billboard, so be it.
