Re: Do you Believe in Ghost?

I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe in hallucination and extrasensory perception.

Our own minds can create perceptions while we wake just as they do while we sleep.

In addition to that there are things that are real that we simply don't recognise for what they are so we assign mysterious explanations to them.

How about when more than one person is experiencing the same thing. Anyone who has witnessed the unexplainable were , I'm sure non believers at one time. It is easy to understand how there would be only one way to become a believer of a few things. Ghost being one of them.

Re: Do you Believe in Ghost?

What about Angels?? My wife is a reginal MGR for an Aupair Agency. A few years ago, an Aupair went to her room in the host families house and dropped on the floor dead. The family below heard it and found her on the floor. Apparently she was supposed to be taking medication that she did not disclose and she died from the affliction.

Anyway, her parents flew in from her home country to come and retrieve the body. My wife had organized a prayer service for all of the local aupairs, the host family and the girls family.

After the service, the two families took a walk around one of the local lakes to talk about their experiences with the girl. Both families noticed this little bird kind of following them around the lake. They didn't make much of it, but when they got home, which was a fair distance, they noticed the same kind of bird (can't say it was the same one) sitting in the tree out back. The family had never seen that kind of bird around their house, took this to be a sign. Beleive it or not, but that little bird provided much solace to those families. As if to say "everything is OK"..

This same thing happened not too long ago with a boy from my childs school that very sadly died in a senseless auto accident. This time it was a dragonfly.

Whether this is coincidence or that the bird was a sign, I want to beleive it.

Re: Do you Believe in Ghost?

I don't think I believe in ghosts, but this is what happened to my wife and I in 1979.

We were newlyweds, and rented a old house in a small rural town. The house was built before electricity was invented and it had 12 foot clings. In the hallway between the bedrooms was a access hole to the antic.
Almost every night both my wife and I would hear the faint sound of ball room music that sounded like it was played on a old horn style record player. So I decided to set a ladder up and check out the sound we were hearing. Sure enough the music started again that night, and I grabbed the flash light and slowly climbed the ladder to the attic. As soon as I raised the door to the attic, the music stopped. I moved the flashlight all around the attic, but saw nothing. Dismayed I climbed back down the ladder and went to bed.
The music would still wake us up some evenings. But we learned that If we yelled "turn it down please" the music would stop. We lived in that house for two years, and this event happened on a regular basis.

I will make this as brief as a I can... My Aunt bought a run down southern plantation house and everyone couldnt believe how cheap it was. Later things started to happen, Noises I recall her saying but I was only 12. Later the descendants of the original home owners asked to buy it to restore and aunt said No... Shortly later she died in a one car crash,,,,Then the family asked to buy it from her daughter who inherited it and daughter said NO...Shorty later the daughter ALSO DIED IN A ONE CAR CRASH ON THE SAME ROAD IN THE SAME SPOT.. Daughters brother then sold it back...true story

How about when you feel like something is going to happen and you say it and it happens. Happened twice recently. One was there will be a rainbow and the other was a bad earthquake. I was wroung about the location buy half a world but we had a 7.7 over in Indonesia the other day. Less than 24 hours after I said it. That is a little uncanny when that stuff happens!

I don't believe in Physic powers. So do many Police departments. They use those with it to solve crimes and some of them can predict crimes. Must have something to do with the Spiritual realm or another realm of existence. The police always say "I was skeptical at first"....
Same with predicting the future. There just has to be some outside of the body influence.

I am a science guy to the end..Ashes to ashes and all that stuff. But..I will say this..Growing up in an old folks boarding home from age 10 until 16 will really challenge that theory.

I really don't have a reason to believe one way or another. I suppose I'm glad I can't relate to some of these experiences.

My life is really dull; I don't believe in ghosts, angels, demons, devils, or anything esp. As a result I have never had any of these experiences. I believe that we see what we want to, and don't see what we don't want to. No esp story has ever impressed or intimidated me.

I don't believe in God, the afterlife or ghosts. I never have since a very early age. I think vision's of ghosts can be explained scientifically. Once you're dead you're dead. Face it, you didn't exist before you were born. You won't after you die. I could get into a deep detailed rant about this but won't. If you do some Googling you will find that certain kinds of electromagnetic fields tend to induce visions/religious feelings in humans.

I'm kinda envious of you people that do, lookup Pascals Wager. Do I scorn people that do? No, I could be wrong. It's very important to respect other people's beliefs.

Your reasoning is not scientific. We are made up of energy. Does energy disappear? You might have existed before you were born(in a different form) and not remember it?
Science has it's limitations. I was watching the "Universe" show. Scientist on the show said the Big Bang theory is pretty much dead. Turns out scientist hit a road block when they go back to the bang. Like what caused the big bang? What existed before the big bang? Why did the big bang happen when it did? Why is the Universe still expanding after 14 billion years? You can't have a theory with so many unanswered questions, they say.
Scientist can't answer the question of "consciousness ".
Many scientist used to think life was a incidental by product of the Universe. Now many think the Universe is geared toward producing life. Why is that? Why would a inanimate Universe want life?
Science can be like a religion. Some scientist have "faith" in the original big bang theory despite the many holes in the theory. When you are speculating about billions of years and zillions of light years it does take a bit of faith to come to conclusions.
Scientist learn something new every day and theories are discounted or updated regularly because of that fact. The Hubble Telescope really killed many theories and created new ones. What is the next technology that will change the landscape of science?
SO when you have millions of people seeing ghost. Millions having out of body experiences. Many that can't be refuted. Does that become like a scientific theory?

Figuring out the reason the universe came into existance is equal to figuring out what women want.

Re: Do you Believe in Ghost?

I never actually saw a ghost but I did have a very strange experience once.

Over 20 yrs. ago a lady I used to be married to and I were still dating and went out to lunch. We were sitting at the table after eating when all of sudden I started feeling very strange. I cannot put it into words other than I had never had a feeling like that before (or since). My first thought was something I ate was making me sick but it was different. She said are you ok? I said I don't know I feel really strange. Within 5 min. the "sensation" stopped as abruptly as it started and I felt perfectly fine just as I had when we first walked in to the resturant.

This woman was 1/2 Cherokee Indian, her father and grandfather full-blooded.
Later she told me that since we were planning on getting married, that strange feeling I had was her deceased grandfather "checking me out" to see if I was worthy of marrying his grandaughter.

Believe it or not.

Negative, but sometimes when you are very tired your mind will play tricks on you or a mere suggestion is all it takes. There are organizations who will gladly pay anybody a million dollars who can prove there are such things as ghosts,so far nobody has been able to collect.
Sly:rolleyes:
