IMO it's personal preference, but I haven't named any of my small boats.


I've had boats for 30+ years and bought a 23 footer that already had a name on the transom. Since it's bad karma to change it, we left it alone.
I thought it was an appropriate name as well.

My 21' Stingray is named Chapter 7.

I've lost count of the number of boats I've owned but the largest one was 28' and all the others were 24' or smaller and they were all named. The current boat is a 18' 2007 Trophy 1802 walkaround named "Best Revenge". Personally, I've always wanted to name one of them Nimitz or something like that but the Admiral always puts her foot down.

If you own 2 boats, name the smaller one the same name as the big one, but add "Jr.".
