That's correct soooo, you can do it either way but the filleting WILL make it sooooo much easier and look better too! Cabosil is CHEAP so I'd go ahead and use it. Sorry for the confusion.

I want to update this thread.... I did the fiberglass all over this thing. Pre-drilled and filled holes with resin. Got a new handle for it, and eyehooks for the cooler straps. Primed it and painted it with kiwigrip and ended up with this:
