DP-E X measurement question.

I am repowering my twin engine boat with AD31P-A engines and DP-E outdrives. Originally, the boat had twin AQ225Ds and 280 single prop outdrives.

My question: Will the X measurement be the same for both drives?

I have a template for the DP-E, but I don't know the measurement for the 280. I do have an old 280 template; however, the measurement chart has been cut out. When I lay the two templates over each other, centering the X, it appears to be a straight forward modification of the hole for the 280.

I have not yet started the installation, so I haven't been able to evaluate the situation. I would like to be prepared, if it is necessary to do some fiberglass work before the installation.

Re: DP-E X measurement question.

Thanks, Don!

Looks like there is 7mm of a difference. The X dimension of the DP-E sits a little higher than the 280, which is actually better for me. The 280 cutout slightly exceeds the perimeter of the DP-E cutout, but, since the X dimension is higher, it reduces the amount of overlap.

I appreciate the link to the installation manual ... that is going to make things much easier!

Re: DP-E X measurement question.

Shouldn't have any problem at all raising it, here is a picture that shows the x dimension at exactly the same location on 3 different cutouts. Photoshop is a wonderful thing at times.
