Drain Plug help?

Hey guys, im restoring a 1972 Sidewinder boat. Finished stringer and almost done with ribs, adding knee braces and just replaced the transom...

ODD QUESTION... My drain hole wasnt centered on the boat before? Kind of offset in the bilge well... I obviously have to drill a new hole for the drain, should i just put it where it was?

Has anyone else ever seen this before? If so, does anyone know the purpose of it?

I'd put it at the lowest section of the bilge that butts up against the transom. Whether or not that's where it was, it's where it belongs...

Does your boat have an OMC drive???
