drain valve leaking

I had my boat winterized by my marina and my Mercruisers were filled with antifreeze. I have noticed the the orange rubber exit drainage tube on the bottom of my engine is leaking antifreeze. The blue valve on the top forward part of the engine is closed with no red showing. Any suggestions as to how to close the valve so that the leak stops?

Re: drain valve leaking

I would remove the distribution valve and see if I could back flush it and clean the insides as much as possible to see if that cures the leak. IF it doesn't, all you can do is replace the valve. They aren't serviceable other than cleaning.

It looks like the valve will need to be replaced. I have an extended Mercruiser waranty until 2010. Is this a waranted item?

Should be, checking with your dealer would be my suggestion.
If it was my boat, I would eliminate that system completely. No way would I trust my engine to that drain system. How will you know if one side of the block doesn't drain because the fitting in the block is plugged?

How do you eliminate the drain system? The block needs to be drained for winterization. Are you suggesting to just manually drain the block with the plugs? I'm a little confused.
