I have a 1995 Evinrude 130, It is starting to bogg at high rpm's like I am dropping a cylinder or fouled a plug or even like something is clogging the gas line and it does this intermitiantly  . I replaced the plugs and the water fuel separator. The problem does not start until the motor has warmed under running condition. I purchased one new coil and am going to relace one at a time and then run the boat onplane to see if I can eliminate it coil by coil. Any other ideas?

Re: dropout

Start at the beginning, compression "first", fuel "will squeesing the primer bulb stop the problem", Ignition "ground one plug at a time" Try to isolate this peoblem. You replaced one coil! What cylinder did you put it on, and why?

Welcome Mr. Snook - Don't fall into the trap of replacing parts until you find the problem. Get the OMC shop & parts manual and troubleshoot to find the problem - - then buy parts.

When was the last time you rebuilt the carbs?

Re: dropout

Snookkrook,Do what R.Johnson suggests next outing to see if you can narrow down a possible fuel delivery problem.Bare in mind that running at high speed with a possible fuel restricted carb increases the chances of a lean meltdown.Sqeezing the fuel bulb while engine stutters will help narrow down a possible failing fuel pump or fuel line issue.Intermittently bumping the key primer will help narrow down a possible fuel restricted carburetor.Check for obvious fuel line leaks before starting engine by insuring the fuel primer bulb will pump up firm and hold. This procedure will help indicate if there is leakage on the downstream side of the primer bulb.Make sure all the fuel line connections and fittings are sealed on the upstream side of bulb back to fuel tank.

If I understand you correctly, your intention is to install the coil at a random cylinder and if no improvement is noted ,to move it on to the next until you have run the new coil on each ,to see if you can pinpoint a possible warm engine coil failure?

The recommendation to get a factory manual is also good advice.

Re: dropout

If it was a fuel issue be it the primer bulb or the line, would'nt that occur at any point at throttle up? It took at least two miles at nearly full speed before I could get the porblem to develop. I do have the shop manual. I do not have some of the tools required, i.e. timming light. It talked about checking TDC with a pencil and marking the flywheel then running the engine and checking the mark. Then depending, changing the power pack. Can I test the thermostats by dropping them in boiling water? My warning horn has not sounded, but I dont trust that thing anyway. I am going to check the stats anyway. The new coil was just an idea from someone that said sounds like.... bla bla bla. didnt work. still need help.
