This will be our first time winterizing our boat (1st year boaters) and our marina gave us 3 options. We own a 1995 Bayliner "1954" classic that is kept in dry storage.
1. Stabilize fuel, fog the engine, charge & disconnect the battery, and drain all water from the engine $90.00
2. The above plus change engine oil & filter, gear lube change and fuel filter water separator $146.00
3. Both 1 & 2 plus removal of the outdrive, grease all fittings, check gimbal bearing, and check all rubber boots for damage and wear $175.00
The previous owner did his own winterizing and took really good care of the boat, but we're not sure which package we should pick so any help would be great.

Go ahead and let the Marina do it all. Heck, to have my marina do just 1 & 2 plus putting non-toxic antifreeze in the block would be about $425. If I could get all that done for $175, I would let the marina do it! I do the winterization and maintenance myself because it costs so much.

If you can watch, you'll learn a lot.
You'll get to know the boat better.
It wouldn't hurt to have it all checked out.

Thanks for the advice!!! I've been surfing here since August when we bought the boat and can't thank you enough for everything I've learned.

Go all the way, less anxiety next spring. I rechange the oil after commisioning in the spring. Use that oil in my old work van that burns it like crazy.

#2 sounds like a heck of a deal, for the extra $56 I can't even buy the materials to do that. For this year I would let them do #3 and that way you have a starting point to go from and next just go with #2 unless you feel you want to tackle it yourself but at those prices it may not be worth it.

Do it all. Get an estimate on paper for all work to be done. Come back and tell us what the final bill is though. Just curious.

Well the marina did it all! Went with #3 as you all advised and the bill was lower that they quoted me. Only $173.oo including taxes plus they removed my prop so I can have the dings repaired elsewhere at no additional cost.
Thanks for all the help.

With those prices I'm assuming you live in Mexico! ;)

In central Maryland it's about twice that. And I would have recommended #3 also.
