Re: DT 55 weird things

Hi loadeaxe,

I have now e-mailed You the info.

Yes, in my opinion the Suzuki oil injection system is reliable. I used the oil injection system on my old DT65 (1991) all the time (until 2003 when I sold it and got a Yamaha F115 4-stroke).

Yes that warning guage (34701-92X50) will work on Your DT55.

Installation of oil pump: I have not removed it and installed it so I do not know how much You must tear down. But according to a Seloc or Clymer manual it does not seem to be difficult to remove and install a new oil pump. But You must bleed the system and there is also a oil pump discharge rate to be adjusted/checked efter installation of a new oil pump.

Re: DT 55 weird things

This is what transpired.
Installed tstat, and fuel pump diaphram, took the boat out and all was well, ran great, as Im coming in to the dock the alarm on the monitor gauge goes off, indicating its getting hot, I kill the motor and coast to the dock on my trolling motor. get it home, pull the lower unit and the impeller is in a million peices. Pulled the tstat and flushed the system out.

I waited 2 days for new impeller and monitor, installed the new impellar, and new monitor, hooked it to the hose and tryed to crank it and it just spins, check the gas, all flow is ok, spark on all 3 plugs is good, it just wont fire....

Any ideas what to check, the only book I have is a Clymers 2-255 hp book and it doesnt cover much on my motor in specifics.

Hi,
You have a rather good Troubleshooting tables on page 79-85 in the Clymer manual.
Read that, for example page 82 Table 2 and lets hope the last 3 lines does not apply to Your engine...

Are You really sure the fuel reach the carburators?
If You pump the fuel bulb - does it help any?
You know how to activate the choke at cold start? Push in the startkey just before and at the same time you turn the startkey to activate choke when cold start. I assume You have a NA12S remote control box.
Battery fully charged and all connections OK?

Also do a search in this forum on "won't start" or similar and You will get rather much to read and consider/try.

Re: DT 55 weird things

Yes I have the NA12S, I never knew about the choke start with the key. Anyhow, I checked all the wiring, charged the battery and used some starting fluid and its running. I adjusted the air mixture to 1 1/2 turns out for now until I get the tach from Browns. It runs a little better at idle. If I let it sit for a day, I have to use starting fluid to get it running again, I think the fuel pump seat gasket is leaking air, I got another on the way. Its looking up and getting better day by day.

Thanks so much Bo!
