DT 65 1980 will not pump water please help!!!!!!

i have a 1980 DT 65 will not pump water at all. I replaced the impeller and plate beneath it new gasket check for any blockage check the stat that was fine but still will not pimp water i just had it running 5 min ago and still no luck. I put the water pump in right ( i turned it clockwise) as i was putting the cap on. Made sure the end of it went in the tube but still no luck. Please help

did u put the key back into the shaft. theres a notch inside the impeller the key goes there, if its not there the impeller wont turn.

Hi there ,Pull the cover off the thermostat and turn the motor over and see if you get water pumping out , If you get water pumping check the stat in hot water to make sure it is opening , if that is operating properly ,If you dont have water double check the key has not fallen out. Jim B

If you are trying to get water to the water pump with rubber flushers (earmuffs) on Suzuki's... it won't work... whole lower unit need to be in water.. it has another sucker on top of the propeller.. if you close that it will suck in water with earmuffs.. get a new impeller if it worked without water for five minutes it is trashed. If you knew all this stuff i would recommend checking the water way passages if you installed the water pump correctly and put new gaskets. Good luck. Keep us informed please. Thanks
