My name is Rowdy and This is driving me crazy. Motors runs fine. Starts easy. Can run on trailer with dogs ears on foot and rev up motor 3000-4000 no problem. Can put in gear and rev up to 3000-4000 no problem. The problem starts when a load is applied. If I put it in the water it immediately kills in gear at about 900 rpm. If I leave it on the trailer and trim it up and rev it up to 3000 rpm and trim it back down into the water it will handle the load. I can rev up further or slow down to 2500; any lower and it will kill. Cleaned carbs and filters , full clean and good, checked compression, good all 3; fire good all 3. Out of options; any help is appreciated.... thanks in advance.

Hi,

This happen to me and it was the carbs, I know you said you cleaned them but I cleaned them myself three times. Then took them to a mechanic that had a sonic cleaner took him two times through the sonic cleaner to work now it runs perfect, just a thought.

My DT55 was doing this same thing the other day.......boat would not come up on a plane no matter what I tried. So I went after the carbs for a good cleaning. I knew it was fuel related. While I was taking the carbs apart I found that the main jet had backed out of the main jet tube in the center carb which caused it to run super fat.....not a good thing.Just make sure when you clean the carbs that you let them soak in some good carb cleaner.......the spray only can get to what you can shoot at.......soaking them will loosen any build up hidden in the passages. Also make sure you blow out all the passages with a good supply of air preasure , then you can shoot a little carb cleaner spray to final clean things up. Then go test that sucker out......good luck
