DT200 gauge/ indicator question

Hey All,

Rehabbing my dad's old DT200, and things are looking pretty good. However there is an intermittent alarm / visual indicator on one of the gauges. It was raining so I didn't get a picture, and couldn't find one on the internet.

The indicator is small, and round .. it has three green bars in the center to show the oil level, there is a rev limit light and there are two lights labeled "Water - R" and "Water - L" . I have two questions:

1. What do these indicators mean exactly? Water temperature, water flow, water in the fuel? There is an audible alarm that sounds when the water lights illuminate red.

2. These were alarmed while on muffs in the driveway. I have read that these motors may not like being on muffs. Engine block was warm, but not hot. Should I get it in the water and run again before I do something like replace the impeller? The pee stream was strong while motor was running.

Thanks!

Yep it could be from being on muffs, air can get in.
Try the heads to see if they were hot, could be the thermostat has failed or has a blockage

Thanks for the response Bosunsmate, I appreciate it.

There is another thread somewhere, where I've read about a procedure for "back flushing" the system to help remove any sediment or scale buildup. Although I didn't full understand or follow the procedure. Are there any Youtube videos or threads anywhere that provide some guidance on how to flush or clean the water circulating/ cooling lines and system?

Thanks!
Chris

Re: DT200 gauge/ indicator question

You can put a flushing product through, im sure that will be on youtube c/o the manufacturing company.
Or if you pull out the thermostat put the hose in that hole and flush backwards after dropping the LU
