dt85 gearbox issues?

I Have a 1984 DT85 that seems to jump out of gear ond flat rev when gets over about 2500-3000 RPM. I have checked the linkages on the side if the motor and they are fine and dont move once the motor is under load. Any ideas??? Cheers

Are you sure the gears are completely engaging? Put the motor in gear and unhook the linkage from the gear lever at the motor. See if you can push the lever forward further than with the linkage off. If you can, adjust the linkage accordingly and see if that helps. This is the easy fix and I hope this is your problem. Otherwise it may be more serious. Good Luck!!
