I read all this and I still don't understand. If they say you need a converter for over the air broadcasting(antenna) then how come I'm still recieving a good signal? Several local broadcasters in my area say they are broadcasting in digital so whats up.

Right now they are broadcasting in digital and analog.
Most of the new tvs have digital capable tuners.Then you have the new tvs that have digital HD tuners.You don't have to buy an HD tv to have the digital tuner.
Our basic cable with no cable box broadcasts the local networks in HD,no extra charge unless you get the cable box to get about 10 more HD channels.
I hated buying a new tv but now after watching things in HD i would never go back.
