So i learned a little lesson tonight. In/ lbs does not mean ft/ lbs.

I was tightening the bolts that hold the water pump housing to my lower unit. Anyway i broke a small bolt off flush. Any ideas? Should i take it to my local mechanic and have them drill and tap. I tried my easy out and it is not working. I am afraid of damagining the sealing face of where the water pump sits by cutting a groove and trying to remove the bolt with a screw driver.

Please lend any help you can.

I feel like an idiot.

Thanks Chief; i went a little deeper with my pilot hole and the easy out bit and the rest of the bolt came right out. Crisis averted!!!!!!

Thanks for the advise!!!!!!

I need to get a bolt. Does anyone know what type of metal they are? Does it matter?

They are stainless steel. Get the proper OEM bolt. They are metric.

Yea wielder is nice watch the heat around the drive or your gonna be melting rubber seals all over.

Ok glad it worked, next time do the same thing drill out the center of the bolt that your trying to remove, always worked for me. But make sure your drilling straight and not messing up the threads.

And don't let anyone ever tell you, or say your stupid everyone makes mistakes, myself included. Strong young guns don't know your own strength.

Good luck

Most of my key learning experiences involved "expenses".... And the $$ wasn't for books or instructors...
:D

OK - I read that again prior to hitting submit. - I'm talking about many mechanical experiences here men.... :p
