Bruce, I retired from that profession of 30 years last year about this time. This thread was burried many pages back, and I inadvetantly posted to it while browsing, watching the tube. I posted in it, thinking it was another post. A harmeless mistake, but it brought it from page 80 to page 1. <br /><br />But this event I posted about a year ago was intergal to my decission to retire from the E.P. inspection field for good. I now install/repair irrigation systems, and it's like a great wieght has been lifted off my shoulders. Whereas, I'm sure not happy about having to continue working instead of fishing and boat building, I'm happy to just go out in the township, and just have to worry about landscaping dying from lack of irrigation.<br />What a contrast, huh?<br />But thanks for the words of encouragement again. It's nice to be reminded of how important it is to protect what God gave us.

12Footer,<br /><br />Another possible alternative: is this something the local press might be interested in? If so, might generate enough publicity/ pressure to influence future cases like this.<br /><br />As far as getting rid of used oil, here in NC the auto parts stores are required to take it back for recycling. I've had quick change oil shops happily take used oil as well. Is this just NC law or federal?<br /><br />Good luck & keep up the good fight!

It really stinks, but there is no physical evidence that what he dumped was in fact oil. Unless you have a lab test conclude that what he was pouring was in fact oil. <br />Saying it could be chocolate syrup is ridiculous, but it is not up to him to prove he was not dumping oil, it was up to the state to prove he was. Burden of proof. <br />Unless the photos showed him drain oil directly from the car, then dump it. You would about need a video to show there was no pause between photographs.<br />The smoking gun doesn't mean a thing in court!

12footer, yea now that you mention it them dates are a ways back, oh well after 30 yrs of it, all I can say is you deserve to go fishin - a lot!

Washington Auto Parts stores (not ALL) will take your old oil adn recycle it for free, but only a certain amount. It is certainly not a requirement to do so, however, if we were caught dumping into a public drainage, or into our septic, you can believe there would be retribution. Washington is more concerned with protecting Salmon streams than the lives of babies being aborted!!!

You then slick up the ground with the front bucket, and feed a round bale of hay to the cows on the spot.<br />When the cows get the ground cleaned up of hay you cant even tell it was ever disturbed.<br /> That ground will have good grass on it the next year. all the bad stuff goes down into the groundwater, Who cares I dont have a well.<br /> <br />
