Duo prop seal replacement

Hi. Worth being aware that these are famous for taking water into the gear oil, through the oil drain plug. Literally so common to happen on these. Easy to nip the seal when tightening the screw back up again. Terrible design. I and a dozen others I know of at least, had such issues. Common place to silicone over the screw once in place each year now. Never an issue since for years. Boat is long gone…but still aware of so many guys that do this and haven’t had water taken in since.
Obviously if you’re sure you’re taking water in elsewhere, that’s different. But defo worth knowing the above too. All the best.

I appreciate the heads up on the drain plug. I know mine is leaking from the front seal on the output shaft for sure from pressure testing it. Still on the fence if I'm brave enough to reseal both the upper and lower on my own. May brake down and pay a shop.

If it’s the older dp from late 80’s to early 90’s (may not be), you can cheat and just split and remove the upper end of the outdrive
