I don't know if its avalible any more but you can use a electric drill attached to the rotor end of the shaft and a standard dwell meter, take care not to load the shaft one way or the other as it could effect your dwell.

Re: Dwell Plate C-91-45510A1

how can i use this method to find the proper readings of point openess or closedness( such as the 90deg. each set of points needs to be open? i I got a freakish impulse and picked up an electronic dwell/volt meter for automotive use, it has dwell meter readings for 4/6/8 cylinder motors. The 6 cylinder reading which I have(1963 I/L 6) only goes to 45deg. is there a way i can multiply this number to OR use this to get a 90deg dwell? will this work? If not i found a picture of a dwell plate online and do not have a rod that connects to the rotor shaft.

I use an Allen machine, but I think you could double the reading, the plate system lets you syn. the pts to each other. The gap should be close to .011, and you could make a arm it's just held in place with a screw. Wish you lived closer I have the old setup--bob
