My wife has an account there and cannot sign in using Windows 8.1 When she tries, I've tried too, absolutely nothing happens when you hit the sign-in button....... Works fine on our desktop with XP. Could their site have an issue with 8.1? Anybody else have issues? Or is it on our end?

Other sites work fine......

I am running windows 8.0 on this machine I am typing on and log into Walmart all of the time, My wife and I both have accounts with them and I make my payments online every month and I have had this Windows 8 machine for a year now. What browser are you using, I use the current version of Fire Fox.

Chrome. Wally World is the only site we've had issues, so far....

Could be something to do with the way Chrome is configured to handle secure certificates, I seriously doubt it has to do with your operating system.

If you have the windows firewall running, you might need to configure it to allow a connection with Walmart, so I would check your firewall settings, so I guess it could be the operating system, Windows 8 has a far stronger firewall set up over any of its predecessors.

It has something to do with Win8 and Chrome. I was able to get in using IE. XP and Chrome works fine.

Also, I'm using Webroot as my antivirus and it appears to have a firewall. Should I leave the firewall on Win8 "on", or should I shut it down? For the purpose of the Wally World problem I briefly shut all my firewalls down which didn't help.

I will only run one firewall, if your anti virus has one running that you are happy with, then shut down the windows fire wall, that way no confusion. If it has to do with Chrome, then there is something configured incorrectly in Chrome, double check all of the Chrome security settings.

+1 with MTb. Check your Chrome settings. Might might be a default Chrome setting.

That's what I've been doing, buy nothing stands out. Maybe I should put my computers side by side and compare the settings between XP and 8.

Re: Signing in to Wally World

Haven't figured out the Wally World issue yet.

I changed the title to reflect my new concern.....

More important issue, what e-mail client should I use since Outlook Express is no longer supported since 2006? I'm reading about Windows Live Mail, that doesn't sound too inviting. Mozilla Thunderbird was recommended. Also, OE Classic which looks very much like Outlook Express. Anyone use any of these products? And how do I transfer mail/address book from Express?

I currently have a SMTP/POP3 mail server.......

My wife and I have been using Thunderbird for years now, with no problems at all. She is a web developer who does websites for hundreds of clients and won't even look at any other product.

How would I migrate my Express files over?

I have been using Thunderbird for so long, I really don't know, but I do believe there some articles floating around the net on exporting email and importing them into a new program.

I'm echoing MT today. +1 on T-Bird. Works great.

To transfer over to T-Bird, on your XP desk top Outlook, File, Export, Address Book,Text File (Comma delimited). That transfers over your addresses. Copy the file and save the file to a thumb drive, USB stuck, etc.

On the W8 machine, download T-Bird, set it up for your email provider and Import the text file created above from the thumb drive/USB stick.

I think that's all there is to it.

This don't sound too bad....

Import from Outlook Express - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

I didn't think it thru. I need something from one computer to another....

Those instructions are for importing on the same machine. You will have to do the Thumb/UBB stick thing between machines unless you have all the machines connected through a network and you can see the hard drive on the XP desk top,.

So connecting the devices thru USB wouldn't be a 3rd option?

I don't think there is a USB cable with the right ends.

You can send the file to yourself or to your wifes email and then forward it to you and save it on the W8 machine.

I believe the ports are the same on both systems. Except I have 2 - 3.0 and 1 - 2.0 ports on the LT.... Now I'll physically look at them.....Lol

Re: E-mail Software for Win8......

I am having trouble understanding how something so simple as sorting out email could become so complicated.
If you are using Chrome as your browser, then just use Gmail as your email accounts as they are both Google. They should work seemlessly.
I haven't used Internet Explorer for ages. I use Firefox as my default browser. We have both Gmail and Yahoo email accounts. Never any issues except when Yahoo goes down, which it did about 1 month ago.
Was puzzled by the name Mozilla Thunderbird so Googled it. Thunderbird apparently is opens source email developed from Firefox BUT the Wikipeadia states that Firefox Foundation have stopped further development of it as they deemed it fruitless. Sounds like you should move on from that.
