ecessive idle on a 40 efi four stroke 2002 model

I was riding on my boat for about two hours or so on the ocean today and noticed that while I put the engine on neutrel,the engine was idling too much so i turned it off figuring that would fix the problem. Every time I put it in neutrel,the engine is reved up. Is there a way to adjust the carbs or what might be my problem with this machine.

Well, if it's an EFI, you can't adjust much. Make sure the throttle cable is pulling the throttle all the way down to idle. Otherwise it's pretty much computer controlled.
