Re: Electric anchor question

I have had a Deckhand 15 for a couple weeks and really like.

They take some getting used to but once you figure out how they work, you adapt to it not the other way around, they are really nice.

The only probelm I have had is self induced, I am too cheap to go the $50 bucks for a dash switch so I got a 6 pole switch and wired my own and can't seem to get enough power to it from the dash but I am working on it.

There seems to be alot of players in the electric anchor buisness recently and I looked at the ones from Bass Pro btu went with the name, you can't beat Minn Kota.

Re: Electric anchor question

I have a Deckhand 18 with the switch. It is an older one, so maybe things have changed with them.
I like it when it is time to bring the anchor in. I hate it when it is time to let the anchor out. I fish a river with a strong current and it takes a while for the line to freespool out. That is another problem, the freespool. There has to be weight pulling against the anchor for more line to come out. Being mounted on the bow and me in the back, it is quite difficult to let it out by hand. When fishing alone, I drop my back anchor and use the bow to hold me steady. When I have someone with me, I have them pull rope out.

Now, my buddy has the 25 on his pontoon and LOVES it.

I used to have the hand crank anchor mate and sometimes wish I had it back...that is until it is time to reel up 75' of line;)

Are these things salt water corrosion resistant now?
