Re: Electric Fuel Pump

I am really glad I read this post. After seeing what everyone is talking about, I understand the safety portion of it thoroughly.

I purchased an airtex OS75 oil pressure safety switch, and will connect the electric fuel pump the correct way. Now I have a question pertaining to the wiring of this. I know how to wire it with the pressure switch. However, I see guys talking about using a relay also. How would I wire this with a relay? I'm not really finding the posts that show this.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump

Just an update on this post. Hopefully this will help the original poster. I purchased an Airtex OS75 oil pressure switch, and plumbed that in with my oil pressure sending unit. I also used a standard 12 volt relay. Wired it up to a diagram that I found online. Eliminated my dash switch, and put a light there instead. The light stays on when the pump is running, and shuts off if it's not.

When I turn the key on the pump is off. When I go to start it, it runs, and then the oil pressure switch closes and keeps it running.

I am VERY thankful for all of the posts here. This is something I added to my book to keep in mind next time.

Thanks to the OP for the start of this, and thanks to everyones comments.

Highly appreciated.

Sounds like a nice (and safe) setup.
