I would like to try and put an electric starter on one of these motors, and would like to know where you could get one from. Also if, by chance, an old motorcycle starter may fit instead. If anyone has managed to fit an electric starter, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

That model usually came with an electric starter. If it did not, what you will need is: The toothed starter ring around the flywheel, the starter motor itself with mount, electric choke solenoid an assorted wiring. I would not try and retro fit something. It'd be very hard.

I have the toothed starter ring around the flywheel, but no starter only pull start.I'm hoping to buy an aftermarket starter that I can just bolt in and connect to a car battery via a switch.I live in Australia so I'm hoping to find a model/serial number so that I can possibly buy one here.

I had the same exact motor as shown in the pic, and you should already have the starter bracket.
I found a starter on a '58 Evinrude Lark 35hp.
I have no idea where you would find parts in Australia, but I think most 25-40hp motors from that era would be good candidates to get a starter from. Good luck.
