Just bought a boat with a '61 Johnson Seahorse 75hp outboard. It's an Elctramatic and the starter is sticky, is there something that can be done to "unstick" it? If not is it possible to replace the starter on a motor that's that old?

First off make sure your battery is good and have a load test done on it. Then check all the battery connections on both the battery and the mtr are good, clean and tight. If the starter still acts up you may have to take it to a rebuild shop.

Thanks. Probably will need to have it rebuilt since the battery and connections are all good.
